Teenagers and cellphones

Last week was my 15 year old daughters birthday. She received cash as she requested from both of her grandparents, an aunt and myself. She knew exactly what she wanted to buy and had me drive her to the store yesterday to buy it. She wanted her own cell phone.

My husband and I had agreed that we wouldn't pay for any of the kids to have their own cell phone plan, that they would have to pay for and get their own. So she saved up all of her money and bought an Alltel phone and a bunch of minutes. She got a decent deal. Unlimited texting and free nights and weekends. It costs her $0.75 a day. Not too bad.

She can't get off of the thing now! I never knew her little fingers could fly so fast doing all of that texting. It's so cute, but annoying too. That phone is constantly going off with new messages or someone calling.

They grow up so fast. It seems like just yesterday I was putting her in the cart at the grocery store. 15 years old! Oh boy am I feeling old today!
